Our First Week Is Done Already!

I can't believe that our first week is over already.  It has been a wonderful week of getting to know each other.  I am super excited to spend the year with your children.  Even though it was a short week, we packed a lot in.  Some of the things that we did this week were:

Share most of our "Me Bags" (We still have a few to do next week so it isn't too late to bring one in) - the children loved sitting in the teacher chair and having the spot light to share the contents of their bag with the class.

Fire Drill practice - we practiced once by ourselves and twice as a whole school.

Readers' Workshop is up and running.  We picked out our independent reading spots and got right to reading our just right books.  We spent time reviewing what they did last year in Readers' Workshop and started learning new second-grade routines.

We took our pre test in math for Unit 1 (solving word problems) and our fact fluency assessments.

In writing the children wrote about their goals in second grade, which we hung outside our room on the bulletin board.

It was nice speaking to some of you this evening when I called.  I'm sorry if I missed you.  Please feel free to call me anytime with questions that you might have.  You can reach me on my cell phone at 860-343-7919.

                                                      Working hard on our writing.
