I'll miss....., but I'm looking forward to .......

We started off the year with the book, First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg, so I was excited to find the book Last Day Blues by the same author.  To go along with the story, here is our class writing about the things we will miss from second grade along with the exciting things we are looking forward to over the summer.

Last Week of School!!!

I can't believe that it is the last week of school!  I know that people say it all the time, but it really has flown by!!

Don't forget that Thursday and Friday both have an early dismissal at 1:05.

Field Day is on Thursday.  Please have your child wear a blue shirt.  Don't forget to put on sunblock in the morning before they come in, and send in a water bottle.

I hope that you can make it to our class end of the year party on Monday at 11:45.  I know that not everyone can make it because of work and other obligations, so I am posting the slideshow that I am going to share on Monday for you to see at home. I hope you enjoy it.

Don't Miss This Great Summer Program!

Mrs. Deedy visited the school today to share this year's exciting summer reading program from Brainerd Memorial Library.  As a teacher and a mom, I am very excited about all of the amazing programs that the library is offering.  Plus, this year everything is being handled online.  It is easy to enroll your child and track how much reading is done each day.  The program asks the children to read for only 15 minutes a day (I hope they are doing more!).  There are weekly prizes and a raffle at the end of the program to win a Kindle.

Please click on the picture below to go to the library page to get started.  There seems to be a lot of great and new programs being offered this year.  The kids were very excited to hear about them today.  The focus this summer is on science, which is a huge hit with the kids.

A packet containing program information and a calendar of events went home today. Mrs. Deedy said that some of these programs fill up fast, so sign up quickly if you are interested.  I hope you find this program fun and motivating for your reader this summer!

Poem for Dr. Harris

We wrote an acrostic poem for Dr. Harris so that she knows that we are thinking of her while she is gone.  Every week a different grade gathers "good things" to send to Dr. Harris while she is away.  This is our contribution to second grade's package.  We hope that she enjoys our poem and knows that we are sending her warm wishes.

Pictures from the Mother's Day Poetry Celebration

Here are SOME pictures from the poetry celebration last Friday.  I know that I took all your pictures, but for some reason they aren't all on my phone.  I apologize to those of you who are missing.  I will post them when I find them.

Thank You!!

Thank you Mrs. Kuchyt, Mrs. Feitel, and Mrs. Cassidy for delivering the beautiful plant from the class for Teacher Appreciation Day!  It is perfect for my yard, and reminds me of how much I enjoy gardening.  Hopefully the weather this weekend will cooperate for some outdoor time!
